This week's edition of Throwback Thursday takes us to the Jersey Shore, but without the GTL (gym, tan, laundry for those of you who never watched the show Jersey Shore). We head back to June 2002 when the Jersey Shore was just a destination along the coast of New Jersey (or a town in central Pennsylvania, but that is for another day).
These signs are on NJ 138 eastbound at NJ 18 in Wall Township. NJ 18 has its southern end at NJ 138, but per the NJ 18 page at NYCRoads.com, NJ 18 was proposed to be built as far south as NJ 35 at the Brielle Circle in Brielle. That is roughly five miles south of this interchange. So that is why there is a blank sign here, as a southern extension was still a possibility at the time when I took the photo. From my understanding, NJ 18 is no longer proposed to be built between NJ 138 and Brielle.
