In the small rural hamlet of North Granville, there is a quiet little truss bridge called the Lower Turnpike Bridge that crosses the Mettawee River. Constructed in 1890 by Dean & Westbrook of New York, this 169 foot long steel thru truss bridge serves local residential traffic between NY State Route 22 and Washington County Route 12. From Granville, follow NY 22 north for about 5 miles to North Granville. Make a right onto Lower Turnpike Rd. and the bridge is not far away.
I took these photos in May 2005. The bridge has since been rehabilitated in 2013.
